even though the history of gambling date back to 600 BC, Gambling was formerly legalised in nigeria in the National Lottery Act 2005. and the first gambling online firm in Nigeria was NairaBet owned by Otunba Akin Alabi.

gambling can cause low self esteem, stress, anxiety and depression, and when it becomes a problem, it becomes an addiction like drugs and alcohol, and the consequences are daring; you know you need help when gambling leads you to severe debt, you start selling properties. when people around you start noticing that you are gambling and you start to have straining relationship with your family and friends and you can become violent. in extreme situation, suicidal thoughts.

steps to take when you need help?

  1. talk to your support person, it could be your parent, a psychologist, a doctor, a pastor or a mentor.

  2. start a gambling diary, write your feelings and action in your gambling diary

  3. Control your cash; start a fixed deposit savings plan, invest in long term asset that you won't have access to.

  4. the time you use to gamble, spend it on other productive activities; you can start a gym section, travel the world or read books, start a skill training or practice musical instrument.

  5. start a relaxation process an stick to it. take yoga classes, meditate or take a long evening walk.

is trading considered as gambling?

making financial transaction without a solid investment understanding is gambling. until knowledge has been developed that allows you to overcome the odds of losing, you are gambling with each transaction that you take.
