Social Media Mobilization: Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have been pivotal in mobilizing protesters. The use of hashtags like #EndBadGovernance has helped unify voices and spread information rapidly across the country and beyond. Social media is being used to coordinate protest locations, share real-time updates, and document incidents of police brutality and government responses () ().

Communication and Coordination: Messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram have been crucial for communication among protesters. These apps provide secure and encrypted channels for planning and coordinating actions, which is particularly important given the government's attempts to control and monitor traditional communication channels ().

Raising Awareness and International Attention: Digital platforms have enabled the protests to gain international attention. Videos and images shared online have been picked up by international media, putting pressure on the Nigerian government from the global community. This has also led to increased solidarity from international human rights organizations and activists () ().

Challenges and Government Response: In response to the widespread use of technology in the protests, the Nigerian government has taken steps to limit digital communications. This includes barring phone lines and restricting internet access in some areas, which has led to further unrest and protests specifically against these measures. Such actions have only highlighted the dependency on technology for organizing and the lengths to which the government will go to suppress dissent ().

Economic Context: The economic hardship faced by many Nigerians, exacerbated by inflation and the removal of fuel subsidies, has been a significant driver of the protests. Technology has enabled the dissemination of information about these economic issues, helping to rally people around a common cause () ().
